GM, Honda expand EV partnership
The General Motors (GM) and Honda collaboration on developing affordable electric vehicles (EVs) based on a new global architecture using next-generation Ultium battery technology is expanding, the two companies announced, to enable global production of millions of EVs starting in 2027. Leveraging the two companies’ technology, design and sourcing strategies, Honda and GM will work towards standardising equipment and processes to achieve world-class quality, higher throughput and greater affordability, with a focus on the compact crossover vehicles market, which is the largest vehicle class in the world, with more than 13 million vehicles produced annually, according to Green Car Congress.
