Ever wondered where the journey of the CXO300 begun?

Back in 2007, Cox Powertrain had a mission to deliver a revolutionary new concept in ultra-lightweight diesel engines. This ignited the beginning of the CXO300. A high powered, diesel outboard engine. With experienced engineers from premium automotive combustion backgrounds, Cox took the best from the automotive world and combined it with the very best technologies from the marine industry, to design and build the next chapter in diesel engines.

WHISKEY ALPHA 85 & OXE DIESEL OUTBOARD

IT DOESN’T GET MUCH MORE “MISSION CRITICAL” AT SEA THAN WHAT TACTICAL WATERCRAFT NEED TO DO. WITH NEW OXE DIESEL OUTBOARDS ONBOARD, THE GAME-CHANGING WHISKEY ALPHA 8.5 DEVELOPED BY TWO AUSTRALIAN EX-SERVICEMEN LOOKS SET TO NOT ONLY STORM THE MARKET FOR SUCH CRAFT, BUT PROVIDE VERSATILITY AND SAFETY BEYOND ANYTHING IN THE WORLD.

BIOBASED DIESEL FUEL HIGHLIGHTED AS A LOW-CARBON, PROVEN AND AVAILABLE CLIMATE CHANGE SOLUTION

April 14, 2021 (WASHINGTON, DC) – Low-cost, low-carbon but high greenhouse gas reducing impact describes the opportunity for using biobased diesel fuel as helping achieve climate change. Biofuels are a ready solution for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and tackling climate change. The virtual session April 13, 2021 hosted by the Diesel Technology Forum is now available in a recorded version for online viewing.

FIRST DELIVERY IN EUROPE: VOLVO PENTA IS NOW TAKING ORDERS ON ITS FULL STAGE V MARINE ENGINE RANGE

In November 2020, Volvo Penta announced the introduction of 8 and 13-liter engine packages that meet the demanding requirements of the new EU Stage V marine for Inland Waterways legislation (IWW). The company offers a range of Stage V certified products – from 210 to 400 hp and up to 300kW marine gensets. This month the first D13 Stage V marine engines were delivered to Dutch company, Lemmen Diesel Engines B.V., who will be responsible for the repowering of the dry cargo vessel, Zuiderdiep. This delivery marks the beginning of Volvo Penta’s Stage V offering with many more deliveries already in the pipeline.

6 Zero-Emissions Watercraft That Make Every Day Earth Day on the Water

Electrification is coming fast to the automotive industry. Carmakers estimate that electric vehicles will account for 50 percent of new-car sales in the US by 2030, while in Europe, that number will be closer to 70 percent. On the water, the numbers of electric boats are much smaller, limited to a handful of intrepid builders who have managed to design battery-powered vessels with all the bells and whistles one would expect from a quality watercraft.

SUPERIOR MANEUVERABILITY AND COMFORT: BRAVADA YACHTS SELECTS VOLVO PENTA AS PROPULSION PROVIDER

Bravada Yachts’ Invictus marks several important “firsts” for Volvo Penta. The impressive luxury houseboat is the first Bravada houseboat to be powered by Volvo Penta and the largest boat in the region to be powered by a Volvo Penta Aquamatic sterndrive. “Team Bravada wanted a propulsion system that would continue the Bravada legacy of changing the houseboat industry and we found it in Volvo Penta,” said Robert Gutierrez, Principal at Bravada Yachts. “We found the Volvo Penta propulsion package very easy to install and service. Additionally, we were impressed by the throttle response, rapid acceleration, and maneuverability with integrated electric steering. Another plus was the quiet and smooth shifting.”

Pixii 750 first look: Newcomers plan to launch Britain’s first electric boat

A trio of British entrepreneurs hopes to establish Pixii electric boats as the Tesla of the marine world. Called Pixii, its first offering will be a 25ft sportsboat called the Pixii 750 with a claimed top speed of 40 knots and a quoted range of more than 100nm at 14 knots. The key to these bold claims is a tough but lightweight aluminium hull paired with efficient waterjet drives, brushless electric motors and an unusually high battery capacity totalling 150kWh. Pixii hasn’t yet confirmed the source of the batteries but they are thought to be reconditioned second-life batteries recovered from cars and adapted for marine use – Teslas would be the obvious choice.

SUPERCHARGE NETWORK IN NORWAY

The first network of fast chargers in North of Europe. The Marinas of Aker Brygge, Bergen, and Florø in Norway will be equipped with chargers for electric boats during the coming months. This is the fruit of a strong collaboration between Evoy, BKK, SFE, Kinn Municipality and Florø Hamn. We at Evoy kickstarted the project in 2019 with amongst others BKK.

1st sea trial of Yanmar/Toyota hydrogen fuel cell boat

We wrote just less than a year ago about two of the world’s leading transportation manufacturers getting together to explore a hydrogen fuel cell boat. Now Yanmar and Toyota have announced they have completed the first sea trials in the water off the coast of Kunisaki in the Oita Prefecture in southern Japan. Japan is very intent on developing hydrogen as a fuel, finalizing its Basic Hydrogen Strategy in 2017 with the goal of establishing the country as ‘a world-leading hydrogen-based society’.

Danish firm launches new electric sportsboat

Danish company Sarvo Marine is developing a new electric sports boat that will have a top speed of over 70kt, making it one of the fastest electric boats on the water. In addition to its impressive top speed the Sarvo 37 will have a number of innovations that will give it a ‘green’ image such as being constructed from recycled aluminium and having decks made from synthetic wood that is largely made from recycled plastic.
