COX POWERTRAIN RAISES £12M TO RAMP UP GLOBAL DEMAND

Cox Powertrain, a British manufacturer of high-powered diesel outboard engines for the global marine industry, is pleased to announce it has raised £9m from existing shareholders, together with a £3m loan from HSBC UK Equipment Finance, to allow the company to expand and ramp up production of its CXO300 diesel outboard.

British diesel outboard specialist, Cox Powertrain, has been shipping the CXO300 300hp diesel outboard engine across the globe to its distributor network since production began in May 2020. Now, eight months on, the French amphibious boat builder, Iguana Yachts, has successfully commissioned its first Cox diesel-powered vessel, which will be used as a tender to the 142m superyacht, NORD.

St. Johns Ship Building develops new landing craft design

Among the first vessels in the U.S. to be powered with the new 300 hp diesel outboards from Cox Powertrain is likely to be a new series of 87 foot long by 30 foot beam landing craft currently under development by St. Johns Ship Building, Palatka, Fla. The Cox Powertrain CXO 300 diesel outboard successfully achieved EPA Tier 3 approval for commercial and recreational applications earlier this year.

Texas Diesel Outboard took part in the 2020 Freeport to Port O’Connor Toy Run in Texas using their Invincible boat with a triple installation of the CXO300. Shoreham, UK – 10th December 2020 – On Saturday 5th December, Cox Powertrain’s Texan distributors, Texas Diesel Outboard, took their Cox powered invincible boat on the annual POC Toy Run. The POC Toy Run is a charity event that works towards donating toys and gifts to underprivileged children in the Port O’Connor area. After successful sea trials of the triple installation of the CXO300 diesel outboard, Texas Diesel Outboard were keen to put the outboards through their paces, and what better way to do that, than a 72 mile trip down the coast, for a great cause.

How much does an outboard engine cost?

When it comes to powering your boat or marine vessels, you cannot go wrong with an outboard engine. Reliable, more powerful, and requiring easier to maintain than its inboard equivalent, they’ve become the engine of choice for many boating enthusiasts in recent years – and for good reason.

From Concept to Reality

Cox Powertrain is now in serial production with the CXO300, which it markets as a new generation in diesel technology. The U.K.-based company achieved Tier 3 approval from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in June, and in September, U.S. dealers started to receive shipments of the first production units. Florida-based distributor Ring Power has since completed the first installation with a twin setup on an Intrepid 345 Nomad.
