Suzuki’s Thai factory produces one-millionth outboard
Suzuki Motor of America announced its production facility in Thanyaburi, Pathum Thani, Thailand has reached the one-million motor milestone in outboard production. The plant, which manufactures 12 models of four-stroke outboards in the 2.5hp through 30hp range, is notable as Suzuki’s first motorcycle plant located outside of Japan. It opened in 1968 and began producing outboards in 1999. The facility employs 1,000 workers and supplies small outboards globally for the Japanese motor company, which cites overall global demand between April and September of this year, coinciding with the general increase in demand for recreational marine products created by the Covid-19 pandemic.
